Dark Skies Award
The Academy has been given an award by the British Astronomical Association for the sports facilities lighting at the rear of the building.
The Campaign for Dark Skies aims to preserve and restore the beauty of the night sky by campaigning against excessive, inefficient and irresponsible lighting that shines where it is neither wanted nor needed.

Change for Life
Year 3 & 4 Change for Life Sports Festival hosted by All Saints Academy
The Academy hosted the Change For Life Sports Festival for years 3 & 4 here at the Academy on Tuesday 7
th May 2013; it was the first festival to be held here on the new 3G pitch. A total of six local lower schools attended the event and had a fabulous day, they were able to try a variety of new activities and sports, students and the teachers of the lower schools were also very impressed with the new building and the outdoor facilities, with many students saying “wow, this is amazing” as they entered the Academy. Staff were also very impressed with the building, one stating that “the festival was an excellent opportunity for the students, our facilities are very limited so this is great”.
The event would not have been able to run without the help of our wonderful leaders and our Gifted and Talented students so a massive thank you goes to the following students: Shannon Stack, Moly Smyley, Ciara Craig, Rebekah Gearey, Millie Henderson-Williams, Ellie Wheatley, Jonathan Wyllie, Jordan Knight and Ellie Bastian. Also thank you to the year 13 Dance group that opened the festival with a brilliant dance routine, once again this was much appreciated by all staff and students at the event.

Academy Work Experience
Academy Work Experience (AWE) has now launched and is available to all Sixth Form students across the Academy enabling them to develop qualities of leadership, to assume greater responsibility and to contribute to the smooth running of the Academy. Placements give an insight into the world of work and are very important in helping students make decisions about future careers. Sixth Form students who successfully complete the programme receive certificates for their efforts and the experience will help their transition to higher education, the world of work and adult life. We are committed to developing our students’ skills and attributes to ensure they leave as the well-rounded, responsible, community members that are so attractive to universities and employers.

The idea of having work experience roles within the Academy allows us, the students, to fully engage with our chosen area and experience what it would be like as a career.
Although, the Academy Work Experience (AWE) is new to us, I feel as though I have benefitted hugely, as I am more comfortable with speaking to new people. It has also taught me a lot about time management and how to organise schedules successfully. I feel very important within my role as an Assistant Receptionist and have built up a friendly and positive relationship with the staff.
I look forward to work experience every week and feel that the benefits are huge.

Report on Year 13 Examinations 2016
Sponsors and Governors are pleased to announce a significant improvement in students’ results in A Level and Vocational courses for the 2016 examinations. With an A Level pass rate of 100% A*-E, and a Vocational pass rate of 100%, students have every reason to be proud. The average point score per student has also gone up significantly.
Although there were outstanding grades in many subjects, we are particularly pleased for students who studied BTECs in Sport as all students achieved top grades. Special mention must go to Jonathan Wyllie, who achieved an amazing triple Distinction* qualification in Sport.
We are delighted to announce that Chandler Russell is our highest achieving student attaining A*, A and B grades in Maths, Further Maths and Physics respectively and an A in his EPQ. Chandler collected his results and there were a few tense moments while he logged into his UCAS account to confirm that he will be embarking on a maths degree at Southampton. After receiving congratulations from Head of Maths, Jeff Bowes, Chandler rushed off to share the good news with his parents.
Business Studies student Laurna Haynes gained two Distinction grades at BTEC with a B and C grade at A level. Not only is Laurna the first member of her family to gain a university place but her grades mean that she has also gained a scholarship for her chosen course at University of Gloucestershire.
The Chair of Governors, David Fraser, said ‘We are really pleased with our results. So many of our students have worked hard to achieve these excellent grades, which means that more students than ever are leaving All Saints with an excellent preparation for the world of work and further study.”

Charity Cake Sale
On Friday 30th September, we will be supporting the fundraiser MacMillan Coffee Morning and our local charity Kidz In Action. In support of this fundraiser, we will be hosting a cake sale with all of the money being donated to MacMillan and Kidz In Action. The money will help people who are facing cancer and give opportunities to children and young adults with special needs.
Parents are also invited to come and buy cakes and refreshments in the school Cafe during Period 1.
At Break Time and Lunchtime cakes and refreshments will be available for students and staff to purchase.
We will also be selling tickets to create your own cake pop workshop to both students and a staff. The tickets will cost £1.50 to make and decorate your own cake pop.

GCSE Results 2016
High Achievers Soar at All Saints Academy
In an unprecedented year of examination success, 20 of All Saints’ high achievers have attained 10 or more A*-C grades. Most notably, Joshua McGhee and Danny Fraser attained 13 A*-C equivalents: Josh’s results included 1A* and 9As and Danny’s 6As and 5Bs. Gabriella Cawley achieved 12 A*-C grades including 5As and 4Bs.
10 students achieved 11 A*-C grades; of these the highest attainers were Jade Windley (1A*,6As and 3Bs), Kaitlin Horton Samuel (1A*,6As and 4Bs) and Hannah Leah Morgan with 5As and 3Bs. A further 7 students attained 10 A*-C grades.
All Saints students have made more progress than last year’s cohort, putting the Academy in a strong position for future success.
Acting Principal, Liz Furber, commented, ‘Following on from our wonderful success last week with 100% A*-E at ‘A’ Level, it is fantastic to see how the students in Year 11 have also embraced the desire for academic excellence. I am extremely proud of all of our students who have worked diligently to ensure they get the best results possible. As an Academy we have had a sharp focus on improving exam technique and have used timely interventions which have had a measurable impact on our outcomes. These results clearly show that All Saints is on a journey to becoming an outstanding academy and I am confident these are just the first steps!’
Chair of Governors, David Fraser, added: ‘Liz Furber has quite rightly highlighted the achievement and hard work of our students. I want to pay tribute to the significant progress and success that she, and her team, has achieved since last November when they assumed the helm at All Saints. The Academy is in a strong place due to the effort that has been put in over the past 10 months.’

A-level Trip to Somerset – April 2015
During the Easter holidays, we took 10 AS Geographers to Nettlecombe Court Field studies centre in Somerset. Set in the beautiful open countryside, Nettlecombe is a stunning old manor house which now hosts GCSE and A-level Geography courses.
We spent a successful weekend completing fieldwork for our AS Unit 2 exam, examining the development of the Somerset coast as a tourist resort, the coastal management in place and comparing the rural deprivation of villages in the area. On the way home we stopped off at Stonehenge to see one of the Wonders of Britain.
The students were fantastic representatives of the Academy and demonstrated excellent leadership and team work skills throughout the weekend.
